Influenced by this mystification, the barrio lieutenant called a meeting to decide a perfect name for their place. One of the elders proposed that their place called “BAGSA” for most of the residents here are those who were stranded before drawn together like articles that are put in a bag. Others agree on such proposal since for them, the term “BAGSA” will honor the mysterious guardian of the said place, who always said that her name is “BAGSA” and her place must also be called “BAGSA”. To give effect to the term “BAGSA” and to perpetuate this maiden, they added the prefix “CANG”. From that day forward it is called “CANGBAGSA”.

          People in this Barangay have varied means of living. Those who are living along the coastal depend on fishing, while, those in the upper part do the farming. Livestock and poultry production were practiced by most families for home consumption and to augment their income. Some are also employed in the government and private institutions locally and internationally. The rest are engaged in business.

          Barangay Cangbagsa is one of the 23 Barangay under the Municipal Government of Larena under the Province of Siquijor is a coastal Barangay situated at East West Zone at the Municipality of Larena and a kilometer away from the later. It is composed 274 estimated families with an estimated population of 1,042.
